Configuring your Pop3 email accounts in Outlook Express

Please be sure to follow all 12 steps in this process. If you omit any of the steps, your email retrieval or sending processes may not work properly. Consult the email sent to you for your correct username, password and server configurations.

1. Start Outlook Express and click "Accounts" in the "Tools" menu.

2. In the "Internet Accounts" window click "Add" and then click "Mail".

3. In the "Display Name" text box type the name that you want others to see when you send a message. Click "Next".

4. In the "E-mail Address" text box type the full e-mail address. Click "Next".

5. In the "E-mail Server Names" window, select "POP3" as incoming mail server type and enter your incoming and outgoing mail servers. These should be configured as "mail.yourdomain.com" or "mail.yourdomain.net", etc., for both Incoming and outgoing server. Click "Next".

6. In the "Internet Mail Logon" window enter the POP3 username in the "Account name" text box and the POP3 password in the "Password" text box.

NOTE: Your username is your ENTIRE email address, e.g., "myemail@mydomain.com", including the @ sign and the domain name. Click "Next".

7. Click "Finish".

8. In the "Internet Accounts" window select the account you just created and click "Properties".

9. In the "Servers" tab check the "My server requires authentication" checkbox then click "Settings".

10. In the new box that pops up, select the "Log on using" radio box and enter your username in the "Account name" text box (again, this is your WHOLE email address, including @ sign and domain, e.g., "myemail@mydomain.com" ) and enter your password in the "Password" text box. Click "OK".

11. Click on the "Advanced" tab. Change the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server port Number to 2525 (it will usually be preset to 25). Click OK.

12. Close the "Internet Accounts" window. You are now ready to "Send and Receive" your email.
